Linda asks…

Need reviews of Proactive skin care for oily skin with blackheads.?

Anyone have any experience with Proactive skin care? The reviews are very mixed, I have even heard that it will bleach your clothes? My daughter has very bad blackheads on her nose and has just now started getting pimples on her face. She has oily skin and even washing 2 times a day dose not help. Will this? Please tell me all of the good, bad and ugly before I spend any more money on worthless products. Thank you.

Proactive works great however with most over the counter products the minute you stop using it the acne and blackheads reappear. I recommend trying a few home remedies, For severely oily skin make an applesauce and oatmeal mask- add a little lemon or other acidic fruit as it will help dry out the skin, I also recommend Applying fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning. For acne that hasn’t seemed to respond to anything: Use 2-3 teaspoons dried basil leaves to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 10-20 minutes. Cool, and apply with cotton ball.
Other things is to remove foods or limit foods with a high iodine level- Beef liver
Tortilla chips Kelp
Asparagus White onions
Butter Most shellfish, including shrimp
Broccoli Turkey (white meat)
Also remember that products that have an acne medication in them are made for times of breakout not for when the face is clear and may cause further breakout later. For more great home remedies you can go to the website below, we used it in school during our chapter on facials and everyone seemed to love the different recipes.

Sharon asks…

What are your reviews on phytomer skin care products for acne?

Ive tried everything….should I try the phytomer skin care line?
It’s about $150.00 for a 2-4 month supply.

I have really bad acne recently and definitely a lot of scarring now.

Thoughts?

Girl Talk answers:

I would not recommend that you use another product. The most common mistake people make is using too many products, which can make the problem worse. To clear up pimples or acne keep your face scrupulously clean – a mild soap and water is all you need unless you have significant outbreaks and then you should use an antibacterial soap. Wash only twice a day. Rinse well. Drink plenty of water. Avoid touching your face if you have not first washed your hands – our hands have TONS of bacteria on them. If you do get a pimple, do not pick at it. Treat it by using a hot wet compress (clean washcloth) two or three times a day. If you want to use a moisturizer, use olive oil. It really does work and is not at all greasy, despite what you might think. Never put anything on your skin that you would not also consider eating, as if it is rubbed into the skin it is also absorbed into the blood stream. If you do these things and you still have uncontrolled outbreaks of pimples, see your doctor, as you may have acne, which usually requires prescription medication.

ZA true white skin care reviews?

Hello, heard that this range can help in whitening and to heal/diminish acne scars and spot.

was wondering whether is should get the daytime/night-time moisturiser and essence? will it be ‘too much’ for my sensitive skin to handle? or which is the 1 product u would recommend in the range? i have a prescribed facial wash and lotion & a mountain of masks at home alry though.

my skin is sensitive but due to dehydration which im using laneige’s water bank range (but not entirely).
im having oily skin and breakouts due to lack of water .. an imbalance.
but i wanted a product to treat my acne scars and lighten the few spots that i have and heard that ZA true white does a good job for its price.

so any recommendations before i purchase?

thanks!

Girl Talk answers:

Za products contain quite a lot of alcohol (top 4 ingredients) so i don’t quite think you should use too many of it at the same time since you have sensitive skin. Some of the products in the true white range are effective, like the essence and the mask, you may want to search for reviews online. I heard the moisturisers (i.e. The day/night creams) aren’t exactly effective.
By the way, i don’t think this range treats spots. Za products aren’t quite known for treating spots, you may want to try other brands. The true white essence works well for lightening scars for some people. But well, it does different things to different people. I have sensitive acne-prone skin and the Za true white products don’t work on me, for you info.
Hope that helps :)
