Sandy asks…

Neutrogena foundation with retinol?

I am on accutane right now and i recently bought this foundation alternative from neutrogena but i saw it had retinol in it. is this bad for skin with acne/undergoing acne treatment? I asked my dermatologist and she said it should be fine because the amount in the makeup is very small, but i wanted to hear you guys’ opinions.

Girl Talk answers:

I would like some advice about accutane, if you could tell me about it on one of my questions i would be very thankful.

However yes dermatologists are very careful when addressing something like that so i would listen to your dermatologist.

David asks…

Does makeup go on okay over a moisturizer with retinol in it?

I have a moisturizer by neutrogena which has retinol in it and a spf of 15. I want to use it in the day time and put a light foundation over it. Does foundation spreak okay over retinol. I would usually use oil of olay but I want to try the retinol. I also have a night cream with retinol in it.

Girl Talk answers:

Yes, apply the moisturizer first & then let it sink in for a few minutes before applying foundation. Make sure the foundation doesn’t have salicylic acid, menthol, or a high alcohol content to avoid irritating your skin/over loading on active ingredients.

James asks…

Does retinol damage young skin?

I am using Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer, which has a retinol treatment. After a few days the skin underneath my eyes had become dry and burns at times. Can this product be the reason for this discomfort? Thank you.

Girl Talk answers:

Retinol is vitamin A and is used to improve skin texture. It can irritate skin – old & young and should not be used close to the eye area.

Use a bit less of this Neutrogena lotion and keep it away from your eye area. If you do not build up a tolerance then discontinue use completely.

” Retinol: Retinol is vitamin A. Carotene compounds (found, for example, in egg yolk, butter and cream) are gradually converted by the body to vitamin A (retinol). A form of vitamin A called retinal is responsible for transmitting light sensation in the retina of the eye. Deficiency of vitamin A leads to night blindness.”

Paul asks…

Is there any equivalent to Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer?

I bought this a few months ago, and then now it’s gone. I really liked how it felt on my skin (although I wasn’t too happy about the color). It has retinol, “vitamins” and spf20, and I would like something that is similar to it.

Any ideas?

Girl Talk answers:

Something similar would be the Laura mercier Oil free tinted moisturzer is great
on acne prone skin.

For drugstore use Kiss my face tinted moisturizer cost $7 at whole foods is organic
